Job summary

The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority is seeking a Home Care Attendant to provide personal and supportive care under the Home Care program at the Stonewall Community Health Office. You will follow care plans, support clients to remain independent, and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic health services.

Qualifications include a Health Care Aide certificate; previous elder care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Health Care Aide Course from an accredited college.
• Other combinations of education/experience may be considered at a commensurate classification/salary.
• Previous experience working with elderly or infirm is preferred.
• Ability to provide safe, effective, personal care with privacy and respect.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and coworkers.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a health care team.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
• Variety of shifts available; access to answering machine/call display.
• Mental and physical ability to meet job demands; satisfactory employment record.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal and supportive care following the care plan to help clients stay independent at home.
• Collaborate with other health team members to deliver holistic care.
• Promote safe, comfortable and respectful care in clients’ homes.
• Contribute to meeting program standards and service quality in Home Care.
