Job summary

Island Crisis Care Society seeks a Community Support Worker to provide professional, therapeutic support to vulnerable adults. You will contribute to meaningful outcomes under the ICCS mission to provide shelter and care with compassion and integrity.

You will work in a team supporting residents, planning personalized services, and coordinating with community partners. Candidates should have relevant education, one year of related experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Diploma in a related human/social service field.
• One year of recent related experience or equivalent.
• Standard First Aid with CPR-C, Naloxone Administration, WHMIS 2015, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention, and successful criminal record review for vulnerable people.

Responsibilities

• Participates in assessment, goal setting and program planning for clients, documents and evaluates progress.
• Assists with life skills training such as meal prep, housekeeping, personal care and budgeting.
• Participates in client-focused activities in line with care plans.
• Helps clients function independently in housing or community, teaching organization and budgeting.
• Provides emotional support to residents and families.
• Identifies community services to meet client needs and liaises with agencies.
• Prepares meals when a cook is not on staff, adhering to safety and menu plans.
• Recognizes and addresses potential emergencies; reports issues to supervisor.
• Administers first aid and medication per policy.
• Assists with case management and contributes to program plans and resident progress reports.
• Maintains health, safety and activity records for residents.
