Job summary

NEXUS Community Support Society is seeking a Community Support Worker to facilitate skill development and community inclusion for clients in a casual, non-union role in British Columbia. You will support daily living skills, promote independence, and collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams to achieve client goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of related experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certifications are assets.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

  • Provide person-centered support that promotes independence, life skills, social inclusion, and community participation.
  • Assist with daily living activities, health and safety needs, and crisis response as required.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, vocational, and social activities aligned with client goals and well-being.
  • Monitor client progress, maintain documentation, and contribute to program planning and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate services with families, community agencies, professionals, and other stakeholders.

About the Role

Provides and facilitates program opportunities that are conducive to the individual’s life skill development, community inclusion, and independence. Supports the individual’s vocational goals and promotes skill growth toward gainful employment if desired by the individual. Assists clients with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional and daily life skills development. Assists clients to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible.

  • Certificate in a related Human Services, Social Services, Community Support, Disability Support, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and food safe certification is an asset.
  • Licensed homes require a negative TB test result
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Collaborate with families, community agencies, professionals, and other stakeholders to coordinate services and supports; perform related duties as assigned.
