Job summary

NEXUS Community Support Society in Revelstoke, BC is seeking a Community Support Worker & Employment Specialist to provide person-centered support that promotes independence, life-skills development, and community participation. The role spans 3 days as Community Support Worker and 2 days as Employment Specialist, with HEU membership and opportunities for professional growth within a values-driven team.

A Class 5 Driver’s License, First Aid/CPR, and food safety certification are assets;

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of recent related experience.
  • Certificate in Human Services or related field required.
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is a condition of employment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized support plans with clients and families.
  • Provide person-centered support to promote independence and community participation.
  • Assist with daily living activities, health and safety needs, and crisis response as required.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, vocational, and social activities aligned with client goals.
  • Collaborate with families, agencies, and professionals to coordinate services.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.00pm 3 days Community Support/ 2 days Employment Specialist

Community Support Worker-3 days (Grid: 10 | $27.53 – $29.76/hour (Step 1 – Step 4)

Employment Specialist-2 days (Grid: 11| $29.22 – $33.54/hour (Step 1 – Step 4)

This is a union job which requires membership with HEU (if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized support plans in collaboration with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide person-centered support that promotes independence, life skills development, social inclusion, and community participation.
  • Assistwith daily living activities, behavior support, medication administration, health and safety needs, and crisis response asrequired.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, vocational and social activities that support client goals and well-being.
  • Monitor client progress,maintainaccuratedocumentation, and contribute to program planning 
  • Collaborate with families, community agencies, professionals, and other stakeholders to coordinate services and supports; perform related duties as assigned.
  • Certificate in a related Human Services, Social Services, Community Support, Disability Support, or equivalent field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent related experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License is required as a condition of employment.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and foodsafecertificationisan asset.
  • Licensed homes require a negative TB test result
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
