Le Winnipeg School Division cherche un Community Support Worker pour soutenir l'engagement des étudiants et des familles. Job description

The Community Support Worker supports the capacity of schools as hubs within communities to strategically gather and deploy school-community services and resources in ways that attain better outcomes for students, families, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Responsibilities May Include But Are Not Limited To

• Student School Readiness
• Increase family, community, and student engagement
• Facilitate and/or coordinate workshops or support groups, parenting skills, and other student needs
• Support families of students with attendance issues
• Refer and/or facilitate access to community resources, social services, professional services, and government programs
• Advocate for clients with institutions, landlords, etc.
• Maintain client records and provide updates to Principals, Vice Principals, and teachers
• Create and/or facilitate programs to support well-being and success
• Participate in networking and coalition building with teachers and the wider community
• Perform other related duties within this classification and similar roles as required
• Continuously assess and address ongoing needs
• Demonstrate dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity
• Show commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
• Build collaborative cultures founded on integrity and collective purpose

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a human services-related field is an asset
• Successful leadership experience and ability to lead groups in various settings
• Experience working with adults, e.g., parent workshops, is an asset
• Proficiency in computer and technology skills
• Ability to produce proposals and reports using data
• Experience working with Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups is required
• Understanding of "The Land, The People, and The Stories" in the context of working with Indigenous families
• Knowledge of the diverse population groups within the Winnipeg School Division is preferred
• Experience working with students, families, and communities of the Winnipeg School Division is preferred
• Knowledge of child development is an asset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• High initiative and effective time management
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle; position may require travel between schools and partnerships
