Job summary

The Mustard Seed Society in Edmonton is seeking a Community Support Worker to engage with participants at the Canora Centre’s drop-in, fostering a safe and respectful environment.

You will perform intake, advocacy, crisis intervention, and coordinate with partners to connect clients with resources, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in a fast-paced setting. Casual, flexible hours with day/evening shifts are typical.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate degree in Social Work or related field, or equivalent level of experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in community development initiatives.
• Front line experience with vulnerable populations and program facilitation.
• Demonstrated ability to engage, communicate, and work effectively with diverse communities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data recording.

Responsibilities

• Greet and sign in guests, conduct intakes and program evaluation.
• Create a safe, respectful environment for all participants and staff.
• Provide non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Foster meaningful relationships with community members and partners.
• Ensure cleanliness and assist in daily sanitization of high touch areas.
• Assist in emergency situations and advocate for guests with internal/external resources.
• Aid in program implementation, collaboration with community members, and promotion of activities.
• Maintain materials and equipment for programs and ensure records are kept.
