Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.

Job Title: Community Services Worker

Location: Forteau, NL

Position Type: 1 full-time position

Start date: June 24, 2025

Pay Rate: $16.00

Duration: 35 hours/week for 8 weeks (approx.)

Closing date: Until filled

Reporting to the Satellite Offices Manager, theCommunity Service Worker will mainly assist the Satellite Offices Manager in building community capacity for newcomers in the region.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Satellite Offices Manager in planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration
• Assist with the development of marketing/promotional materials, such as informational/promotional brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats
• Assist in coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers
• Maintaining regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers

Qualifications and Experience:

• Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse clients
• Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal)
• Ability to speak a second language is an asset
• Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset

Conditions of Employment:

• Hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and have legal authorization to work in Canada
• Be between 15 - 30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
• Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
• Must have own means of transportation
• Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP
