Job summary

City of Burnaby is seeking a recreation programs supervisor for the Edmonds Community Centre. The role involves designing, coordinating, and evaluating community recreation programs and events; supervising staff; and liaising with schools, groups and the public.

Responsibilities include staff recruitment and training, promoting services, and assisting in managing a large multi-use facility with budget awareness. A BC driver’s licence is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year Community College program in Community Recreation or related discipline.
• Sound related supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of principles and objectives of organized community recreation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, coordinate, schedule, and supervise recreational programs to meet community needs.
• Interview, hire and train program staff and conduct performance evaluations.
• Publicize and promote services through presentations, brochures, displays, media and other contacts; liaise with schools and community groups.
• Assist in directing the operation of a large recreation facility and monitor expenditures through budget recommendations.
