About the Institute for Community Prosperity

The Institute for Community Prosperity was launched in April 2015, formerly known as the institute for Nonprofit Studies. It focuses on community prosperity, aiming to foster conditions where human potential flourishes. The institute aligns with global goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all, emphasizing the role of higher education in enabling students to make transformative community changes.

The Trico Changemakers Studio connects community organizations with students to collaborate on social innovation projects addressing social and environmental challenges. It serves as a co-working, social R&D, and studio space for MRU students across faculties.

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Program Coordinator (CPC) supports social labs, community programs, and institute initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting community engagement activities, research, and coordination of projects like the Early Childhood Literacy Network. The position is full-time, starting May 19, 2025, and ending May 8, 2026.

Responsibilities
  1. SOCIAL LABS - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Support engagement activities, conduct interviews, facilitate workshops, and analyze data for evaluation.
  2. SOCIAL LABS - RESEARCH + KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION: Conduct research, assist in publications, and coordinate dissemination activities.
  3. Early Childhood Learning Network - COMMUNICATIONS + ENGAGEMENT: Support engagement activities, manage communications, and support events like the Big Book Sale.
  4. Early Childhood Learning Network - PROGRAM SUPPORT + ADMINISTRATION: Conduct research, support publications, facilitate knowledge sharing, and assist with onboarding/offboarding.
  5. INSTITUTE SUPPORT + STUDIO ACTIVATION: Coordinate events, serve as an ambassador, and foster an inclusive environment in the Studio.
Qualifications
  • Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related experience, preferably in post-secondary education.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with community partners.
  • Understanding of university research environment.
  • Experience with research, writing, critical thinking, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of social innovation and social labs.
  • Experience or knowledge in childhood literacy.
  • Qualitative research skills including interviews and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Salary: $55,982 - $70,841 per year.
