Position Summary:

Provides home support services to clients such as assisting with activities of daily living, performing delegated tasks for which transfer of function training has been completed, planning and preparing meals, and light housekeeping.

Position responsibilities:
  • Follow Care Plans and maintain accurate client records using appropriate documentation
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, promoting physical and emotional independence
  • Understand accountability and expectations related to delegated tasks
  • Communicate changes in client condition to your supervisor and collaborate with team members
  • Identify and promote client safety, seek support from Nurse Supervisor for medical or ethical dilemmas
Qualifications required:
  • Community Health Worker (CHW) or Health Care Aide (HCA), certified with BC Care Aide Registry
  • Healthcare experience
  • Current First Aid (Standard) / CPR (Level C) certification
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Current immunization record, including TB test within the past 12 months
  • Vulnerable sector check upon hire
  • Availability to work days, evenings, including weekends
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate effectively and provide companionship
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Basic computer/smartphone skills are an asset
  • This position is physically demanding, requiring dexterity, sensory ability, lifting up to 55 pounds, walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement
