Job summary

Safe Families Canada is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator in Hamilton to build partnerships with churches and community groups. You will coordinate events, run the Moms’ Group, and support Circle of Support volunteers, while driving fundraising through grants and sponsorships.

You will create promotional materials and engage stakeholders across local networks, leveraging social media to advance the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in community engagement/outreach in non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship-building.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and child welfare systems is desirable.
  • Proficiency with marketing tools and social media to engage and mobilize the community.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to advocating for vulnerable families.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator serves as a key relationship-builder and coordinator for Safe Families, focused on establishing and maintaining partnerships with churches, community organizations, schools, and businesses. Responsibilities include coordinating community events and training, running the Moms’ Group program, and working with Ministry leads to recruit and support Circle of Support volunteers. The position also drives fundraising through grant-seeking, sponsorships, and year-round fundraising initiatives. Additionally, it involves creating promotional materials—brochures, newsletters, and social media content to advance Safe Families Canada’s mission and vision.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with churches community organizations schools faith-based groups and businesses to build partnerships
  • Coordinate community events, information sessions, and training opportunities to engage volunteers and partners in the work of Safe Families
  • Program coordination of Moms’ Group including scheduling volunteers, planning activities and booking speakers
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support Safe Families
  • Lead fundraising initiatives throughout the year
  • Create compelling materials including brochures, newsletters and social media content to promote the vision and mission of Safe Families Canada
  • Contact and connect with local churches about partnerships
  • Works with Ministry leads to recruit and support all circle of support volunteers from their Church
  • Other duties as assigned by chapter director
Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree in social work, communication, public relations, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

2. Experience in community engagement and outreach, preferably in the non-profit sector is an asset.

3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect and build strong relationships.

4. Knowledge of local community resources, social services, and child welfare systems is highly desirable.

5. Proficiency in using various communication and marketing tools, including social media platforms, to engage and mobilize the community.

6. Self- motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

7. Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to advocating for vulnerable families.

8. Valid drivers license and access to reliable transportation.
