Job summary

The Town of Canmore invites applications for a Municipal Enforcement Officer - Compliance (MEO-C). The successful candidate will enforce the Land Use Bylaw, encroachment rules, and licensing requirements for tourism-related activities, while educating the public and ensuring compliant operators.

You will document actions, respond to inquiries, and collaborate across departments to support lawful, safe, and orderly community standards. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience applying municipal bylaws, licensing regulations and enforcement policies.
• Ability to explain bylaw requirements clearly to the public and stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills to record enforcement actions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Municipal Enforcement and Compliance Activities.
• Perform foot patrols to monitor compliance with bylaws.
• Issue citations, warnings, and enforcement notices as needed.
• Document observations and enforcement actions in municipal systems.
• Respond to public complaints and inquiries regarding bylaw violations.
