Job Description:
- Responsible for Food programs such as Food Bank and Food Share
- Responsible for the supervision of the Community & Family Services volunteers
- Organize and supervise Community & Family Services Christmas Services—Christmas kettles, Christmas Hampers, Christmas Toy Shoppe and Hope for All Seasons Fundraising campaign.
- Support and assist with Emergency Disaster Response and provide EDS training for volunteers and employees.
- Secure timely media coverage & interviews of Corps Officer or designate for Community & Family Services programs, i.e., Christmas Kettles, Hamper fund and Food Bank.
- Provide input on standards, policies, and procedures relating to areas this position oversees.
- Embrace the mission of The Salvation Army, East Kootenay Circuit and the Community & Family Services Mission, Vision & Goal Statements.
Payroll, Funding Administration, and Reporting:
- Identify, secure, and apply for new funding sources that will advance and adhere to the Salvation Army standards and programs.
- Liaise/Network with relevant community agencies to complete grant and other funding requests, provide feedback to agencies.
- Supply Admin payroll information
- Maintain and update established written policies and procedures for Community & Family Services and employee handbook.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Governance Boards and Councils: Ministry Unit Management Board, Church Board.
Internal: Ministry Unit staff, volunteers.
External: Community agencies, local stores, donors, clients, and public.
MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY :
- This position reports directly to the Community Ministries Director (CMD).
- This role is also accountable for the oversight of volunteers in its area of responsibility.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Minor material responsibility. This role is accountable for overseeing the purchase, maintenance, and safekeeping of materials and equipment within the CFS department.
- This role has charge card authority for small program purchases (i.e., food bank supplies, as needed, thank-you items and gifts, minor miscellaneous program supplies, etc.).
- Some input to annual budget or revenue projections.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working environments for this position will include: the office, food room, kirchen, or the church for the Food Recovery program, as well as out in the community.
- Some travel and on-call work during Corps Officer’s absence is associated with this position.
- Work will expose incumbent to deal with disagreeable/angry clients.
- May involve applying physical force to move/lift/transport materials of up to 40 lbs.
- Hours will be Monday 830-5, Tuesday 830-5, Wednesday 9-530, Thursday 830-5, Friday 830-5

education and experience Qualifications:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years post-secondary education in a relevant field.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Computer literacy (Window, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Fiscal and managerial experience will be considered as an asset.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Develop an understanding of the Mission of The Salvation Army in The Canada and Bermuda Territory and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner.
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures as it relates to external funders.
- Responsible to work in compliance with Health & Safety Act and Regulations

- Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with government and social service agencies.
- Experience in direct staff supervision.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.99 to $23.73 with a maximum of $28.48.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
