We’re offering a Communications Student position at our Solar District, available for 4 or 8 months starting September 2025.

As a Communications Student, depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with the Solar District Communications team to develop and implement communication plans supporting strategic objectives, engaging internal and external audiences.
  • Research, write, and proofread a variety of content for different audiences, including articles, social media, website content, news releases, project profiles, executive communications, and proposals.
  • Manage the distribution and analytics of the district’s weekly internal newsletter.
  • Coordinate the development and execution of projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Build strong, customer-focused relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Track media coverage, identify trends, analyze data, and measure communication effectiveness.
  • Support ongoing research, maintain media lists and kits, and update communication process documents and project information.
  • Ensure all communication materials adhere to PCL Construction’s branding guidelines.
  • Adapt writing style for internal (conversational) and external (formal) audiences.
  • Assist in community involvement initiatives and campaigns with our communications team.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, understanding of AP Style, and best practices in writing.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or diploma program in journalism, public relations, corporate communications, or digital communications, with knowledge of public relations and content marketing principles.
  • Strong writing skills, with excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading abilities.
  • Team player with a positive attitude, interpersonal skills, and effective collaboration abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • High integrity, positive attitude, and collaborative spirit.
  • Critical thinker with sound decision-making skills.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and organize information effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Previous professional or co-op/internship experience is an asset.
