Job description

Communications Specialist, Storytelling & Content Producer – Digital Offerings

Montreal, QC, Canada

Job Description

The Opportunity:

Do you have a passion for storytelling? Do you have a knack for turning complex ideas into compelling content across a range of media types? WSP is searching for a Communications Specialist to support our growing global digital offerings program. Digital is one of the fastest growing service areas across the AEC industry and plays a significant role in our strategic ambitions. This role reports to the global marketing lead for digital offerings and supports the wider digital orchestration team.

You will be instrumental in leading our efforts to tell compelling client stories, highlighting the value our expertise in engineering, science, and digital is bringing to clients across the built and natural environment. This role requires a journalistic approach, with the ability to identify potentially impactful stories and to develop them into clear human-centered narratives that resonate with our clients, partners, and colleagues.

Experience working in the engineering, professional services or enterprise technology sectors is helpful, but not necessary. Successful applicants will come with a portfolio of previous story content and demonstrate having an affinity for new technologies, a passion for marketing, and an intrapreneurial, problem-solving mindset.

As a global business, this hybrid role can be based near any WSP office in time zones spanning UTC-5 to UTC +5, with the understanding that you will occasionally be required to take calls or meetings outside normal working hours. The ability to travel globally is essential but should not exceed 5-10%.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Lead the identification and creation of our digital client stories, in line with the WSP Global Brand Framework, using a multimedia approach including written content, videos, creative use of imagery and audio stories that capture the essence and impact of our work.
  • Collaborate with our global digital stakeholders and delivery specialists to identify stories, gather necessary information, conduct interviews and produce content.
  • Coordinate with the wider global and regional marketing teams to ensure stories and campaign content are relevant to their key audiences (based on sector and specialism).
  • Coordinate with the wider global and regional communications teams to facilitate and support pitching and promotion of our marquis projects to external media.
  • Regularly review story performance & engagement with the support of the marketing analytics team and take a continuous improvement approach to refining media and techniques to maintain and grow engagement and effectiveness.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience facilitating the development of multimedia content (written, photo, video, audio) and managing multiple stakeholders & technical professionals.
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences. Fluency in English is essential. Experience writing for translation would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel globally.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Creative and analytical thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
