Job description

Who We Are

Nestled in the southwestern corner of Alberta, in the rugged and legendary Canadian Rockies, Castle is as authentic as it gets. Hard-working, hospitable, and here for the powder is what we’re all about. With just over 200 employees we’re a small, passionate team of winter enthusiasts. Here, we’re all family and you will quickly find you are right at home. If this sounds like you, then we want you to join us. Our resort is not owned or operated by a large ski conglomerate; rather by a bunch of local skiers and riders who are passionate about steep terrain and great snow. Operational decisions are made here (head office = the basement of the day lodge) and our long-term direction is plotted by a group of passionate, volunteer board of directors who represent more than 200, predominately local shareholders. This role oversees group and corporate sales, advertising, public relations, strategic partnerships, sponsorship development, and marketing collateral, while also supporting the resort’s information technology needs. This is a hands-on role spanning all aspects of sales, communications, and marketing. From brand concept through implementation, paired with significant supervisory responsibility. We’re looking for a strong, confident leader ready to shape how our resort is experienced by guests, partners, and the community!

What We Offer You
  • Opportunity to work in the beautiful South Canadian Rocky Mountains
  • Health and dental benefits (eligible after 3 months of continuous employment)
  • Full mountain season pass. Also eligible for spouse/dependents
  • Several employee discounts around the resort
  • Wage commensurate with experience plus a commission structure
  • Full-time, year-round employment (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Brand Management
  • Build brand strategy, experience, and reputation management to position Castle Mountain as a premier resort experience in the region, while shaping the guest experience across key revenue channels — season passes, ticketing, F&B, snow school, accommodations, and summer operations.
  • Establish short- and long-term sales, marketing, and communications goals and programs to drive market share, expansion, and profitability.
  • Evaluate market response to advertising programs and adjust plans in real time to stay ahead of changing market and competitive conditions.
Revenue & Sales Generation
  • Drive group, corporate, and season pass sales to directly support revenue growth across all resort verticals. Digital Strategy & Content Creation
  • Lead the development, execution, and oversight of Castle Mountain Resort’s digital, online, and social media strategy across platforms.
  • Write, produce, and capture original, compelling multimedia content — including on-mountain guest and athlete photography and video — that inspires and drives engagement.
Public Relations & Strategic Communications
  • Drive positive PR while liaising with regional, national, and international media and industry representatives.
  • Leverage strong communication skills to drive awareness, messaging, and campaign activations. Cross-Functional Leadership & Culture
  • Foster positive interpersonal relationships and open communication within the Communications team and across all resort departments.
IT Operations & Technical Infrastructure
  • Manage the resort’s IT Administrator, who is responsible for POS systems, Wi‑Fi, and property‑wide network connectivity. The IT Administrator coordinates directly with vendors and technicians for troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance to ensure seamless operations. No technical skills required — this role provides oversight and direction, not hands‑on technical work.

  • 4+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or communications, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Background in ski, resort, hospitality, or tourism industries is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience partnering with and directing external agencies and vendor partners.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Proven track record of guiding cross‑functional teams from concept to execution, making decisive calls while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.
  • Exceptional ability to build strong cross‑departmental relationships and align diverse stakeholders toward shared goals.
Communication & Public Speaking
  • Outstanding ability to articulate strategy, set transparent expectations, advocate for priorities, and navigate high‑stakes conversations with confidence and poise.
  • Skilled at engaging audiences, facilitating dynamic meetings, and presenting complex strategic updates to internal and external leadership.
Strategy, Analytics & Adaptability
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex datasets, uncover key trends, and translate raw data into actionable business strategies.
  • Thrives in fast‑paced environments, using data to pivot tactics quickly, manage competing priorities, and consistently hit deadlines.
Technical & Personal Attributes
  • Provides direction to the IT Administrator and ensures technology decisions align with organizational and communications priorities. Deep technical expertise is not required — this role focuses on leadership, prioritization, and alignment with organizational goals, while the IT Administrator handles technical execution.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the ski lifestyle, outdoor sports, and the tourism space.
Core Competencies
  • Strategic Planning & Business Acumen — Builds and executes sales, marketing, and communications plans that directly drive revenue across passes, ticketing, F&B, and seasonal operations.

Work Conditions

  • A dynamic mix of office‑based work and on‑mountain time, capturing content and storytelling across the resort
  • This position requires on‑site attendance at our remote mountain location
  • Comfort with extended computer and screen use, along with manual dexterity for desktop and peripheral equipment
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and occasional evenings during peak winter operations
