Job summary

CIMA+ | B&A in Calgary is seeking an early-career Communications & Engagement Specialist to join our Earth and Environment team in the Downtown Calgary office. You will help develop clear, inclusive communications and engagement programs across diverse projects and clients, collaborating with senior team members and interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, public engagement, facilitation, community relations, community building, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Supports development and implementation of communications and engagement strategies, plans, schedules, and materials.
• Prepares and coordinates written content for project communications and materials.
• Translates technical information into accessible content for diverse audiences.
• Assists with planning and delivery of engagement activities and events.
• Participates in public and stakeholder meetings and supports communications on projects.
• Supports facilitation by preparing materials and documenting discussions.
• Tracks and analyzes stakeholder feedback and contributes to engagement records and reports.
• Conducts research to support communications and project planning.
• Supports media monitoring and responses under guidance.

The Communications & Engagement Specialist supports the development and delivery of clear, thoughtful, and inclusive communications and engagement programs for a diverse range of projects and clients. This early-career role supports your professional growth and offers many opportunities to build hands-on experience in project communications, public and stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and feedback analysis. Working collaboratively with senior team members and interdisciplinary project teams, the Specialist contributes to high-quality, practical, and responsive communications and engagement solutions that serve a wide range of clients and project types.

Responsibilities:

• Supports the development and implementation of communications and engagement strategies, plans, schedules, and materials that respond to project needs and align with project milestones and approval schedules, under the supervision of senior team members.
• Prepares, edits, and coordinates written content for project websites, e-newsletters, mailouts, information packages, social media, media releases and advisories, key messages, presentations, and other project communications.
• Translates technical and project information into clear, accessible, and audience-appropriate content.
• Assists with the planning, logistics, and delivery of engagement activities, including workshops, open houses, small-format meetings, stakeholder interviews, and online outreach.
• Participates in public and stakeholder meetings and supports communications on technical or sensitive projects, interacting professionally and empathetically with community members, clients, project partners, elected officials, regulators, media, and other audiences.
• Supports facilitation by preparing materials, documenting discussions, and helping create inclusive and productive engagement environments.
• Tracks, organizes, and analyzes stakeholder feedback and contributes to consultation records, engagement summaries, reports, responses, recommendations, and mitigation strategies.
• Conducts research to support communications, engagement, audience analysis, and project planning.
• Supports media monitoring, media materials, responses to inquiries, and project reputation matters under the guidance of senior team members.

Supports internal and external corporate communications, proposals, and business development materials, and collaborates across disciplines on diverse projects and service
