The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:
The Communications Coordinator coordinates and delivers a range of institutional communications activities that support the goals and priorities of the Gabriel Dumont Institute.
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for writing and producing reports, newsletters, and communications materials; developing and sharing stories that highlight student and organizational successes; managing GDI’s website content and social media channels; preparing media releases; and coordinating communications requests, timelines, and publishing activities. The coordinator works collaboratively with departments, partners, and stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, professional, and aligned with GDI’s standards, brand, and priorities while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of two (2) years of related communications experience, including experience coordinating projects, managing deadlines, and working with internal and external stakeholders. Strong written, editing, proofreading, research, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canva, social media platforms, and related communications tools. Experience preparing reports, newsletters, publications, and communications materials for a variety of audiences, as well as knowledge and understanding of Métis culture, history, and communities, are strongly preferred.
