Job summary

Legislative Assembly Office (LAO) in Edmonton seeks a Communications and Digital Media Assistant to support our team with content creation, digital strategy coordination and engagement initiatives. You’ll work with seasoned writers, designers and analysts in a collaborative environment.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager and Supervisor of Communications Services, the Communications and Digital Media Assistant is new to the field, is an adaptive learner and is eager to support our team in its communications and digital media efforts. Collaborating with seasoned writers, content creators and visual designers, this position plays a key role in supporting all areas of operations and co-ordinating digital strategies that drive engagement and inspire active citizenship.

You have exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment and experience managing multiple tasks, deadlines and communication channels efficiently. You are a strong writer with a solid understanding of content creation and are familiar with the Canadian Press style guide.

Bring your excellence to the LAO

Your background includes a degree or diploma in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, English or a related field, complemented by up to three years of experience in communications, with a strong focus on digital media and content creation.

You are tech savvy and familiar with communications tools such as Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics and Sprout Social and bring practical experience with social media platforms, content management systems, graphic design and digital marketing. You are comfortable learning new programs and adaptable to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You are familiar with working in a Microsoft Teams environment, particularly with SharePoint Online. Your adaptability, creativity and technical skills make you a valuable asset in a dynamic communications environment.
