Job summary

Adria Electric Ltd. seeks a Communication Technician - Construction to join our field crew in Burnaby, BC.

The role focuses on installing, splicing, repairing, and maintaining overhead and underground cables, including fibre optic and copper lines. Responsibilities include pulling cables through conduits, reading blueprints, following safety procedures, and providing on-site support across Metro Vancouver project locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience in telecommunications, electrical, or cable installation.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, cable routing plans, and technical diagrams.
• Experience with fibre optic or copper cable splicing is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, repair, and maintain overhead and underground cables (fibre optic and copper).
• Pull, position, and secure cables through conduits, ducts, walls, and floors.
• Read blueprints and network layout plans; verify continuity and signal strength.
• Follow safety procedures and industry standards while working at heights or around energized equipment.
• Load, move, and maintain tools and equipment for cable installation projects.
• Provide related installation, repair, and field support tasks as required.

Job duties

• Install, splice, repair, and maintain overhead and underground cables, including fibre optic and copper lines.
• Pull, position, and secure cables through conduits, ducts, walls, floors, and other structural pathways.
• Use cable splicing tools, testing equipment, and meters to verify continuity, signal strength, and proper installation.
• Install cable support structures such as brackets, hangers, and related hardware.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and network layout plans.
• Follow safety procedures and industry standards while working at heights, in confined spaces, or around energized equipment.
• Load, move, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment required for cable installation projects.
• Perform related installation, repair, and field support tasks as required.

Terms of employment

The position is indeterminate, full-time (40 hours per week).
