This role requires hands-on expertise in commissioning critical mechanical systems from design review through integrated testing and handover. You'll work with cross-functional teams on greenfield builds, expansions, and facility upgrades, primarily in the Toronto metro area with travel to other Canadian provinces. This full-time position offers significant professional growth opportunities within our rapidly expanding North American data center commissioning practice.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Lead development, review, and approval of mechanical commissioning test scripts and procedures (L1-L5) while maintaining strong fluency with ASHRAE commissioning requirements and guidelines
  • Perform design drawing, specification, and submittal reviews while producing and validating key mechanical deliverables including Sequences of Operation (SOO) and Test and Balance (TAB) plans
  • Execute hands-on commissioning of critical mechanical equipment including chillers, cooling towers, CDUs, CRAHs, CRACs, RTUs, AHUs, and high-density liquid cooling systems through pre-functional inspections, functional testing, and integrated systems testing
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical equipment issues, documenting findings and coordinating resolution with contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders
  • Serve as primary commissioning point of contact for mechanical infrastructure, controls, and monitoring systems throughout project duration
  • Write detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods-of-Procedures (MOPs) while compiling project documentation into site-specific Systems Manuals
  • Support proposal development, team composition planning, budget management, and preparation of detailed client commissioning reports using QA/QC software such as BIM360, CxAlloy, and Facility Grid
  • Conduct network diagnostic testing, heat load testing, scenario testing, and integrated systems validation to ensure facility performance and readiness
Desired experience and technical skills:

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of documented data center and/or mission critical commissioning experience, ideally with greenfield projects of 25MW+ capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in third-party commissioning of controls/automation systems, chillers (air and water cooled), cooling towers, CDUs, CRAHs, CRACs, RTUs, and AHUs
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent commissioning activities and maintain effective stakeholder communications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 30% to client sites across Canada (typically not exceeding two-week durations)
Preferred:
  • Experience commissioning data center high-density liquid cooling systems
  • Accredited engineering or technology degree (equivalent industry experience acceptable)
  • Commissioning Professional certification from recognized industry authority
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng/PE) designation
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
