Veolia North America is seeking a Commissioning Associate to commission electrical systems across varying complexities, with a focus on data center environments. Qualifications

  • Must have associate degree/diploma/BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with less than one year with mission critical project experience or minimum of 2 years of commissioning experience on mission critical projects
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable
  • Demonstrated organizational, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive problem-solving and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments
  • Assist with plans and procedures for commissioning execution
  • Carry out commissioning from design through occupation per client requirements and best practices
  • Attend factory testing and document procedures and results
  • Conduct functional testing and measure results with test instrumentation
  • Fully document all field procedures including results, issues and observations
  • Comment on equipment and system performance and help with daily commissioning reports
  • Adhere to safety requirements
  • Learn basic functional tests on building equipment (generators, transformers, battery systems, SWGR, MSB, EPMS, ATS, PDU, busways, RPP, grounding, lighting controls)

Job Description

Commissioning Associate : Commissions electrical systems of varying complexity while supporting the Commissioning Project Manager/Specialist. Responsibilities include reviewing project information, executing field activities, maintaining documentation, and assisting with commissioning processes. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, energetic professional with strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, willingness to learn electrical systems design and construction, and the ability to thrive in collaborative team environments.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including medium voltage systems
  • Assist with preparing plans and procedures for execution of the commissioning process
  • Conduct commissioning activities from the design phase through the occupation phase, in accordance with client requirements and industry commissioning process best practices
  • Attend factory testing of equipment and document procedures and results
  • Conduct functional testing of equipment and measure results using test instrumentation
  • Fully document all field procedures including results, issues and observations either via company provided templates or online applications
  • Comment on equipment & system performance
  • Assist with submitting and maintaining daily commissioning reports
  • Comply with company, client, and project safety requirements
  • Be willing and able to learn about and perform basic functional tests on building equipment, including, but not limited to:
    • Generator
    • Medium / Low Voltage Transformer (XFMR)
    • Battery Systems
    • Low Voltage Switchgear (SWGR)
    • Low Voltage Main Switchboards (MSB)
    • Automatic and Semi-Automatic Switching Controls
    • Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS)
    • Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
    • Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
    • Busways
    • Remote Power Panel (RPP)
    • Grounding Systems
    • Lighting Control Systems
Qualifications

Physical Requirements/ Work Environment
  • Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day
  • Carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to wear required PPE daily
  • Extensive local, national, and occasional international travel required (40-70% annually). Typical travel days are Mondays and Fridays, with on-site work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Veolia provides employees the opportunity to return home on Fridays to spend weekends with their families, unless specific work requirements necessitate otherwise.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours to accommodate maintenance windows or weekend schedules.
  • Work environments include high-energy areas such as central plants, switchgear rooms, and power transmission areas in Mission Critical facilities.
