Job summary

Kal Tire is seeking an Commercial (OTR) Sales Representative to manage relationships with mining and industrial customers across Canada, pursuing qualified sales opportunities and promoting Kal Tire’s full range of products and services.

The role requires building strong staff and vendor relationships, delivering value through strategic account management, and collaborating with internal teams to meet commitments while upholding Kal Tire’s safety culture and AIMS. Frequent travel is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years outside sales in a medium/large organization.
  • Minimum 3 years in major asset sales, contract management, or industrial/commercial account management.
  • Experience in tire/mining/heavy industrial sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage contractual relationships with end-users in Canadian mining and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key and senior contacts at head office and site levels.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Manager, Operations Managers and store leadership for forecasting and execution.
  • Monitor competitive activity and develop strategies to protect and grow market share.
  • Respond to RFIs and RFQs from existing customers and new opportunities.

Job description

The Commercial (OTR) Sales Representative manages and oversees Kal Tire’s relationships with customers and key accounts within the mining and industrial sector. This role is responsible for maintaining healthy, long-term, and profitable customer relationships while identifying and pursuing qualified sales opportunities. The incumbent promotes the full spectrum of Kal Tire’s products and services, ensuring internal teams across service and store locations understand customer needs, meet commitments, deliver ongoing value, and operate in alignment with Kal Tire’s AIMS and safety culture.

The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving and time-management skills, is comfortable working with spreadsheets and reporting tools, and demonstrates a professional, customer-focused mindset.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Management
  • Establish and manage contractual relationships with end-users in the Canadian mining and industrial sectors.
  • Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with key and senior contacts at both head office and site levels.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with manufacturers and supplier partners.
  • Actively pursue, qualify, and develop new account opportunities using solution-based selling principles.
  • Participate in industry-specific organizations, associations, and conferences (e.g., CIM – national and chapter level, Canadian Coal Association, Tire Industry Association, MineExpo).
  • Respond to RFIs and RFQs from existing customers, new business opportunities, and Mine development or engineering firms.
  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Sales Manager, Operations Managers, and store leadership to ensure consistent communication, accurate forecasting, and execution of customer commitments.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive activity within assigned accounts and develop strategies to protect and grow market share.
Health and Safety Environment
  • Lead by example and actively support all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs across MTG operations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture consistent with Kal Tire’s Journey to Zero initiative.
  • Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by understanding customer requirements and ensuring operational alignment.
  • Contribute to environmental goals and objectives by supporting sustainable practices across customer sites and internal operations.
Training and Development
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Kal Tire MTG Tire Technician Training Program to effectively communicate its value to existing and prospective customers.
  • Support overall MTG manpower strategies, including workforce planning, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations around service capability and technician competency are met.
Support of Major Accounts
  • Manage Kal Tire’s relationships with large mining and commercial customers to ensure profitable growth, exceptional service delivery, and competitive differentiation.
  • Act as the primary relationship manager, ensuring expectations outlined in customer agreements are met and value is clearly communicated.
  • Analyze and present customer-specific reports demonstrating operational efficiencies, cost savings, and performance improvements delivered by Kal Tire.
  • Utilize sales program results and customer reporting tools to proactively address issues and strengthen partnerships.
  • Work closely with the credit department to resolve billing inquiries and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate customer needs, service standards, and account updates to store and operational teams to ensure consistency across locations.
  • Monitor client growth plans and market trends to ensure Kal Tire adapts to evolving customer needs and industry conditions.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in outside or commercial sales within a medium to large organization.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience related to major asset sales, contract management, or industrial/commercial account management.
  • Experience within the tire, mining, or heavy industrial sector is considered an asset.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial and OTR tires, wheels, valves, and wheel hardware, including proper application.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and computer skills, with experience using CRM and sales reporting tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong problem-solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple accounts, and achieve sales targets.
  • Strong customer‑centric mindset with a clear understanding of value drivers, revenue growth, and service excellence.
EDUCATION
  • Degree or diploma in sales, marketing, business, or an industry-specific certification.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • A valid driver's License is required
