Job summary

SWEB Development is seeking a Commercial Operations Manager to oversee the commercial operation of wind and solar assets in Canada from Halifax or via hybrid work arrangements. The role includes meeting administrative electrical grid compliance, power marketing, and insurance management while collaborating with teams across the renewables spectrum.

The ideal candidate holds a business/technical/ legal degree with 3+ years of experience and strong Microsoft 365 skills.

Qualifications

  • Business, legal, or technical degree with a high motivation to develop a strong understanding and knowledge of renewable energy generation assets and relevant skill development
  • 3+ years of experience or relevant education
  • High level of experience with Microsoft 365 products
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Support or lead the contractual management of wind, solar, and battery storage projects in Canada from the late development phase throughout the entire life cycle
  • Bring confidence in working with local permitting processes and government agencies
  • Be adept with navigating contracts such as Land Leases, Power Purchase Agreements, or Operations & Maintenance (or similar) Agreements
  • Manage administrative electrical grid compliance requirements with different utilities and independent system operators, such as NB Power, NS Power, or the IESO
  • Verification of power purchase agreement revenues
  • Perform filings with regulatory commissions, such as NERC and NPCC
  • Manage renewable energy certificates: registration, certification, sales, and transfer
  • Point of contact for insurance coverage (ensure contractual compliance, RFPs, RFQs together with the HQ)
  • Recognize the balance of prioritizing work safety and productivity
  • Knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, provincial safety regulatory compliance
  • Efficient in communicating and negotiating
  • Execute complex assignments with a high degree of initiative and professionalism
  • Derive practical solutions out of complex situations.

SWEB Development (SWEB) is a team of renewable energy professionals who are passionate about the environment, local communities, and shared social values. Our team is looking for a Commercial Operations Manager to support our growing portfolio of wind and solar assets in Canada. Our North American fleet has a total capacity of approximately 95 MW with plans to triple our portfolio in the near future.

Job Description

This position will play a key role in the successful commercial operation of renewable energy generation assets with a variety of responsibilities including meeting administrative electrical grid compliance, power marketing, insurance management, safety coordination, and more. The successful candidate will work with SWEB’s team members with expertise in renewable energy policy and incentives, contracts, legal, design, permitting, engineering, as well as finance and construction. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:
