Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Commercial Lead with an expertise in Airports, to join our Cost and Commercial Management group. The Commercial Lead will provide leadership from a commercial perspective at all stages from inception to completion of projects.

This role will sit within our Mobility Global Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

In this role you will be responsible for setting up a major project, including sub consultancy agreements, processes, management plans, reports, KPI metrics. You will be major Project/ Program based, working closely with the Project Director and Commercial Director to provide leadership in all areas of cost, commercial management and contract admin. You will collaborate with the project team on all commercial matters, mentor and guide junior team members on contract management and claims best practices, and leverage expertise in CCDC, FIDIC or other standard forms of contracts to ensure compliance and project success. You will be expected to effectively and proactively manage all commercial matters; administering head contracts, monthly cost and value analysis and reporting (client and business), project communications, project controls and monitoring (CPI/EV), administering sub consultancy agreements, payments, invoicing, reviewing and preparation of claims; from preparation of notice, record keeping, establish entitlement, validate data, demonstrate and prove time and costs, measure, quantify, submit, negotiate, crystalize disputes, prepare briefing notes to commercial, counsel and management. You will actively contribute to and provide best practice commercial management leadership to the Performance Excellence Group and effectively and proactively manage contract claims and, where appropriate, both initiating and defending claims under contracts, and prepare briefing notes to commercial, counsel and management. You will develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize contractual disputes, engage in Continuing Professional Development, and ensure you are familiar and compliant with health and safety regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Major international airport experience essential
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
  • LLM / MSc construction/ contract law is preferable
  • Membership in recognized professional bodies (e.g., PQS, MRICS, MIOB) is preferred
  • Membership (or Fellowship) in Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb/FCIArb) is highly desirable
  • Experience working in Canada, the UK, Australia or the Middle East is a must
  • Minimum 15 years in contract management, administration, claims preparation, and rebuttal on major infrastructure projects, preferably Metro/LRT/transport-related projects
  • Contracting and consulting background preferable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this position is $114,590 - $212,810. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
