Job Title : Commercial Lines Producer

Location : Hamilton, ON (Hybrid)

Reports To : VP, Commercial Sales & VP, Group Benefit and Retirement Solutions

Employment Type : Full-Time

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing independent insurance brokerage, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Commercial Lines Producer to support the Commercial Lines & Employee Benefits department in achieving revenue targets and organizational goals. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to work alongside industry experts while gaining invaluable experience in the commercial insurance sector.

You will assist in the execution of sales strategies, handle administrative duties, and ensure seamless operations for the sales team. You will act as the first point of contact for new producers, provide ongoing support for the sales process, and help drive new business development through effective lead generation and relationship-building.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Reporting and Coordination

  • Support the new business and client retention efforts by preparing reports, presentations, and other supporting documents for the sales team
  • Generate and distribute sales reports and documentation, ensuring alignment with key sales initiatives
  • Attend sales meetings, take detailed notes, and follow up on action items or tasks that need to be addressed
  • Coordinate with the Sales Team to organize prospecting activities and sales strategies
  • Assist with preparing and delivering reports for management presentations

Producer Onboarding

  • Assist in the onboarding process for new producers, ensuring all mandatory training and system setup is completed
  • Serve as the first point of contact for new producers, addressing questions and providing timely support
  • Work with Human Resources to continuously improve the onboarding plans and processes
  • Provide hands-on training for sales-related tools (Zywave, Zoom Info, Bignition)
  • General Administrative Support

  • Provide direct administrative support to the VP, Commercial Sales and VP, Group Benefit and Retirement Solutions
  • Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, arrange travel, and handle related logistics for the executive team
  • Review and edit documents, presentations, and correspondence for accuracy and professionalism
  • Handle incoming mail, prioritize correspondence, and escalate issues as needed
  • Prepare and manage travel schedules, booking arrangements, and reservations for executives and sales staff
  • Maintain up-to-date records in CRM systems, ensuring accurate client data and interaction history
  • Client Prospecting and Lead Generation

  • Generate and qualify leads through various prospecting strategies, including networking, research, and cold calling
  • Review applications and collaborate with the service team to update policy changes and renewals
  • Cultivate relationships with clients, underwriters, and internal team members to identify business opportunities
  • Assist with the marketing and placement of commercial insurance policies, ensuring alignment with clients' needs
  • Stay informed on current insurance market trends, continuously improving the ability to address client needs
  • Utilize CRM tools to track lead progress and update client information
  • Work with your Service Support team to ensure clients' needs are met and any issues are resolved promptly
  • Assist in responding to client inquiries, gathering underwriting information, and conducting necessary research
  • Sales and Relationship Building

  • Present the company’s value proposition effectively to potential clients and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with clients, helping to identify and solve their insurance needs
  • Continually develop and maintain a comprehensive prospecting and sales plan to support business growth
  • Work collaboratively with sales and service teams to identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling
  • Market Development and Networking

  • Actively participate in networking events, meetings, and other activities to drive new business opportunities
  • Maintain and develop relationships with Centers of Influence (COIs), industry partners, and key stakeholders
  • Share knowledge and insights on sector-specific trends, positioning the company as a leader in the industry
  • What We’re Looking For

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline
  • 4-5 years of experience in a sales support, administrative, or commercial insurance role
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, or customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with sales-related software (e.g., Zywave, Zoom Info, Bignition)
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate effectively
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with clients, peers, and management
  • Motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently and within a team environment
  • Experience with social media and networking platforms, especially
  • Comfort and confidence in virtual and in-person sales interactions
