Job summary

Carmichael Engineering in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, is seeking a full-time Commercial Heating Technician to service, diagnose, and repair commercial and institutional heating systems. Under the Service Manager, you will ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will primarily service hot water and steam systems, working on-site with unionized teams to support client operations in the industrial and institutional sectors.

Qualifications

• Commercial boiler experience required.
• Hydronics experience required.
• Gas or Oil licenses an asset.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong communication with clients and suppliers.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform seasonal maintenance on hot water and steam heating systems in industrial and institutional sectors
• Diagnose system issues, troubleshoot, and resolve problems
• Test combustion equipment and associated control systems
• Dismantle defective systems and test components
• Replace faulty parts and reassemble repaired systems
• Test system operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe and reliable performance
• Estimate, order, and install materials and supplies required for equipment maintenance
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, replacements, and causes of malfunctions
• Perform combustion analysis and adjustments to meet manufacturer requirements
• Provide personalized follow-up with clients

Carmichael Engineering is seeking a full-time Commercial Heating technician to join its team.

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a key role in the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of commercial and institutional heating systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing hot water and steam heating systems, while supporting operational continuity for commercial and institutional clients.
