PURPOSE OF POSITIONReporting to the Integrated Marketing Manager, the Integrated Marketing Specialist is responsible for the project management and implementation of Destination BC's brand marketing programs, ensuring delivery that is on brand, on time, on budget, and aligned with the relevant brand strategy. This role requires an understanding of marketing strategy and experience managing the delivery of brand campaigns. The Specialist brings knowledge of emerging tourism, brand and integrated marketing trends to effectively manage projects and provide strategic insight, and continues to develop this knowledge over time. They also have experience in digital marketing, mobile consumer behaviour, social media, content marketing, landing page development, and evolving media and technologies.
The Integrated Marketing Specialist operates in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and budgets. The role involves building and maintaining strong professional relationships with colleagues across Destination BC, as well as representatives in Destination BC's overseas offices as required. The Specialist also collaborates with contractors, marketing and technology agencies, and tourism industry partners. They manage multiple projects in coordination with various business partners and engage professionally with representatives at Destination BC, Destination Canada, other tourism organizations, agencies, the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, as well as related public and private sector agencies.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES- Collaborate with Integrated Marketing Manager to translate business objectives into integrated brand marketing programs;
- Manage the production, delivery, and evaluation of integrated brand marketing programs for a portfolio of brands targeting one or more traveller segments;
- Work closely with teams across the Global Marketing division to optimize campaigns and channel activations based on performance reporting and in-market intelligence;
- Collaborate closely with agencies (e.g. digital, traditional, PR) on integrated marketing program planning
- Serve as a marketing program liaison for internal teams and agency partners in the development and delivery of creative assets;
- Implement Destination BC brand strategies, policies, and standards, ensuring that all marketing programs adhere to trademark and copyright regulations;
- Provide tactical marketing expertise to colleagues and business partners, contractors, suppliers and industry partners, including active participation on project-based, cross-functional teams. This includes providing guidance/input on project briefs, communications plans, creative and media strategies, and their optimizations;
- Use established project management processes and systems-such as project briefs, timelines, estimates, and status reports-and recommend improvements where applicable;
- Manage project-related timelines and financial processes including:
- Contributing to the timely and accurate management of the annual budget;
- Managing assigned project budgets, including accurate oversight of estimates and invoices.
- May supervise staff including the assigning work, developing and evaluating performance plans, and approving leave;
- Manage program area contracts to ensure compliance with government policies and procedures and confirm satisfactory contract performance for payment processing; and
- Other related duties as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Degree or diploma in marketing or business, and/or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three years' experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of large-scale integrated brand marketing campaigns across both digital and traditional channels.
- Minimum three years' experience in project management within marketing or advertising sector.
- Minimum two years' experience managing external agencies and/or contractors.
- Proven knowledge of digital marketing best practices and creative optimization strategies.
- Experience preparing project briefs, reports and decision-making documents for agencies and internal partners.
- Knowledgeable of emerging tourism and digital marketing trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
- Formal training/education in project management methods and tools (eg. Asana), is considered an asset.
