Smith School of Business at Queen’s University invites applications for a term adjunct instructor to teach COMM 341 – Operations Management in the winter term at the main campus. The position involves teaching one or more sections, totaling 3 hours per week (two 1.5 hour sessions) from January to April 2027.
Each section has up to 89 students; candidates should have a Master’s degree or PhD and several years of related teaching experience; prior university teaching is preferred.
A term adjunct position is open at the Smith School of Business for an instructor to teach at our main campus in a lecture style undergraduate course in the Commerce program. The position is to teach Operations Management (Comm 341) in the winter term. There are multiple sections available. Teaching one (1) of these sections of COMM 341 will entail teaching 3 hours per week, in two 1.5 hour sessions (24 classes in a term), from January to April 2027. The successful applicant will be required to teach 100% of one or more sections of COMM 341 with a maximum enrollment of 89 students.
In order to deliver products and services to customers, an organization must organize its operations in an effective and efficient manner. This course develops skills in operations management by integrating material across functional areas, introducing new managerial concepts and applying rigorous problem solving techniques. Topics such as process improvement, quality management, supply chain management, and project management are considered for manufacturing and service firms.

The salary for a term adjunct teaching one section of a course in our Commerce program is $13,856 (excluding vacation pay). This salary is pro-rated based on course credit.
