Maverick Volleyball offers a variety of programs designed to support athletes at different stages of development, from beginners learning the fundamentals to competitive athletes.

Coaching Opportunities

Maverick Volleyball is hiring coaches across multiple levels for our upcoming programs for the 2026/2027 season. Positions vary in responsibility, leadership expectations, and time commitment.

Stream 1 - RTC General Managers

Reporting to the Program Manager, the GM oversees operations, coach development and athlete programming. They are responsible for the smooth operations of a Regional Training Centre, which includes planning practices, coaching athletes, mentoring coaches, planning and monitoring internal competition as well as administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Design an athlete development plan based on the level of athletes.
  • Ensure that each practice is planned based on the development plan.
  • Attend practices/competition to coach athletes.
  • Attend practices/competition to mentor coaches.
  • Manage internal competition schedules and results as well as events.
  • Manage coach communication, attendance and timesheets.
  • Communicate with athletes and parents.
Stream 2 - Head Coaches

Reporting to the General Manager, the Head coaches lead training sessions and are responsible for planning and executing practice plans and providing high-quality delivery of the program’s curriculum. Head coaches supervise, lead and mentor assistant coaches, communicate with athletes and parents and perform other required administrative tasks. This role requires strong organization, communication, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Create a positive, fun and safe environment for participants
  • Ensure high-quality execution of the Maverick’s program curriculums
  • Supervise and direct Assistant Coaches in their roles and responsibilities
  • Communicate with support staff regarding administrative tasks
  • Ensure a physically and psychologically safe environments for all participants and staff
  • Demonstrate drills and techniques
  • Provide coaching, feedback and encouragement to athletes in a positive and constructive manner
  • Provide a professional and positive experience for all participants
Stream 3 - Assistant/Apprentice Coaches

Reporting to the Head Coach, General Manager and/or Program Manager, the Assistant & Apprentice Coach’s (AC) main responsibility is to provide participants with high quality, constructive and positive coaching during on-court practice sessions. They focus on creating team cohesion, developing volleyball skills, and promoting positive leadership behaviours. This role is ideal for developing coaches or athletes interested in gaining coaching experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create a positive, fun and safe environment for participants
  • Ensure high quality execution of Maverick’s program curriculums
  • Communicate with support staff regarding administrative tasks
  • Demonstrate drills and techniques
  • Provide coaching, feedback and encouragement to athletes in a positive manner
Compensation

Maverick Volleyball offers competitive hourly compensation based on role, experience, and qualifications.

Hourly Pay Ranges
  • Apprentice Coach (under 18 YO) - $16.60 - $20.00 per hour
  • Assistant Coach (18+) - $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
  • Head Coach - $24.00 - $34.00 per hour
  • General Manager - $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Compensation Framework

Compensation is determined based on Maverick Volleyball’s internal compensation grid, which outlines pay levels according to:

  1. Coaching Experience
  2. Certifications & Trainings (e.g., NCCP)
  3. Demonstrated performance
Qualifications
Stream 1 - General Manager
  • 4 years of coaching experience at any level
  • 2 year mentoring/training coaches
  • Knowledge of official competition rules & protocols
  • Extensive knowledge of volleyball technical and tactical concepts (skills, techniques, rules, game play, etc.)
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
Stream 2 - Head Coach
  • Minimum 1 year HC coaching experience, OR
  • Minimum 3 years of AC experience
  • Minimum 1 year of mentoring/training assistant coaches
  • In-depth knowledge of volleyball technical and tactical concepts (skills, techniques, rules, game play, etc.)
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
Stream 3 - Assistant/Apprentice Coach
  • Knowledge of volleyball technical and tactical concepts (rules, game play, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills regarding communicating with athletes
  • Ability to work effectively within a team

  3. Availability: Hours they are available to commit to coaching each week
  4. Role Preference: hey are applying for (Camp Director, Senior/Head Coach, Assistant Coach)
  5. Preferred locations: Two areas of the city they are willing to commute to for coaching assignments.
