Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada offers a student placement within the TacNET team supporting the Land Command Support System (LCSS) for the Canadian Army. You will work alongside software, network, and hardware engineers in an Agile environment, contributing to secure, reliable, and future-proof systems.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
  • Strong interest in networked computer systems and willingness to grow in this field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an Agile team environment, attend daily scrums.
  • Integrate efforts with other team members.
  • Execute tests and build procedures, and capture results.
  • Review and update system design documents, use cases, build procedures.
  • Participate in team document reviews and follow product delivery processes.
  • Evaluate current software and determine future upgrade path.
  • Assist team with troubleshooting and maintain test environments.
  • Work with requirements, configuration and test management tools.
  • Assist with diagnosis, root cause analysis, and problem repair.

Job description

Our TacNET team working to support the Land Command Support System (LCSS). The Land Command Support System (LCSS) is the system of systems that primarily supports the Canadian Army in operations by providing commanders with the information services required to make effective and timely command and control decisions about their forces.

It is an interconnected network of digital communications and information systems by which the data needed to plan, direct and control tactical and operations is communicated, stored, processed and displayed.

You will work side-by-side with software, network, and hardware engineers in an Agile environment while ensuring that the system remains secure, reliable, and future-proof.

In this role you can expect to:
  • Working in an Agile team environment, attending daily scrums, working on planned work items.
  • Integrate efforts with other team members.
  • Executing tests and build procedures and capturing results
  • Review and update System design documents, use cases, build procedures
  • Participate in team document reviews
  • Follow product delivery processes
  • Evaluate current software and determine future upgrade path (obsolescence management)
  • Assist team w/ troubleshoot and maintain test environments for various stakeholders.
  • Working with requirements, configuration and test management tools
  • Assist with diagnosis, performance of root cause analysis, and problem repair.
What You Need to Have to Succeed
  • Student Mus be enrolled a in a Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other applicable scientific discipline at a recognized university program
  • Strong interest in networked computer systems and desire to grow in this field.
  • Strong communication abilities both written and verbal.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.

You must be eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $24.92 - $33.23. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
