Job summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is seeking a Co-op Software Engineer to join the Applications team on the Land C5ISR Program. You will contribute to developing and integrating software that supports the Canadian Army in missions, with focus on Battle Management and Planning applications, in an Agile environment.

You will implement features, test and debug, participate in code reviews, and engage in PI Planning and Scrum ceremonies while expanding knowledge of new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer, Software, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or other related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in, or interest to learn Java, Python.

Responsibilities

  • Identify defects, resolve issues and verify changes
  • Support and perform Product level test and integration efforts
  • Participate in code reviews

  • Expand knowledge of latest technologies, products and market trends relevant to area of work

Job description

The Applications team for the Land C5ISR Program is looking for a Co-op Software Engineer to join our team. We develop and integrate various software products that enable the Canadian Army to support and accomplish their missions. Our focus is predominantly on Battle Management and Planning applications. On this team, you can expect to work in an Agile development framework on a variety of different technologies, including deploying web-based server applications, and working with messaging networks over tactical radios.

In this role, you can expect to :

  • Implement software to meet the requirements, Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria
  • Develop and perform tests and debugging of code
  • Identify defects, resolve issues and verify changes
  • Support and perform Product level test and integration efforts
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
  • Expand knowledge of latest technologies, products and market trends relevant to area of work
  • Performing related duties as assigned
What You Need to Have to Succeed
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer, Software, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or other related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $24.92 - $33.23. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
