Job summary

Zymeworks Inc. in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Co-op Student for the In Vitro Pharmacology team, part of Multispecific Antibody Therapeutics. You will support experimental tasks related to therapeutics research and design/execute immunological assays to fuel the development of innovative biotherapeutics.

The role is a full-time onsite Co-op in Vancouver, with an hourly wage of $21 CAD. You will work with the assays team, perform mammalian tissue culture, data analysis, and maintain accurate lab

Qualifications

• Currently be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology or a related discipline.
• Must be available for a co-op term of at least 8 months.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities.
• Proficient with Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Interest in immunology and biotherapeutics.

Responsibilities

• Support mammalian tissue culture activities of the assay group using aseptic techniques.
• Ensure cell lines are properly expanded, frozen down and databases updated as required.
• Assist in interrogating novel biology utilizing flow cytometry, high content imaging, MSD or other techniques.
• Execute functional immunological assays such as on cell binding, reporter gene assays, ADCC, TDCC, and/or ADCP.
• Adhere to Zymeworks standard procedures for generating, documenting and archiving data and maintaining an accurate, up-to-date lab notebook or electronic notebook.
• Analyze data, prepare slides, and communicate results.
• Work closely with other members of the assays team and conduct all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OS&H regulations and established Zymeworks policies and practices.

We are currently seeking a Co-op Student to join our In Vitro Pharmacology team, a part of Multispecific Antibody Therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting experimental tasks related to therapeutics research. The Co-op Student will be involved in designing and executing complex immunological assays to interrogate new biology and fuel the development of innovative biotherapeutics.

This role will be located in Vancouver, BC and is full-time onsite. The hourly wage for this co-op position is $21.00 CAD.

What You'll Bring

• Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high-paced, fast-changing environment.
• Enthusiasm for innovation and discovery.
• Good computer skills particularly with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Basic working knowledge of antibody structure and function.
