Gerdau North America is offering a Mechanical Technologist Intern position in the Recycling team. You will update drawings, assist engineers on capex projects and maintenance planning, and gain hands-on experience within a global steel company.

We seek students with at least two years of mechanical study, a solid academic record, and familiarity with SolidWorks; AutoCAD is a plus. Strong communication, independence, and fast learning are highly valued.

Formación

  • Two-year degree in Mechanical discipline or MET program enrollment.
  • Minimum GPA 2.5; preferred 3.0 or higher.
  • Experience with SolidWorks; AutoCAD a plus.
  • Strong communication and leadership in student activities.

Responsabilidades

Responsibilities
Mechanical Technologist Intern

The successful candidate will be working with our Recycling team. Following on-the-job training and orientation, the candidates may:

  • Update equipment /facility drawings
  • Work with outside vendors and consultants, assist in managing contractors
  • Assist Engineers on capex improvement projects
  • Manage smaller non-capex projects
  • Planning maintenance jobs and ordering parts
  • Design projects
Requirements
  • Have completed at least two years of a degree from a recognized university in an Mechanical discipline or be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at RRC Polytech
  • Record of high academic achievement (Minimum GPA 2.5; preferred GPA 3.0 or higher)
  • Experience with Solid works design software, Autocad would be a benefit
  • Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Canada without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational qualities
  • Ability to work independently and be a fast-learner
