Job description

Purpose & Scope:

The CNC Setter Operator Co-op is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce products for our customers. The role requires working safely and efficiently, complying with Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety policies, procedures, and quality systems. Familiarity with SPS, 5S, and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure machines are set up to produce required parts.
  2. Install and remove spindle chucks, collets, drawbars, spindle adaptors, and cutting tools as needed.
  3. Index cutting inserts and make size change adjustments to machines as required.
  4. Load and unload parts on machines to meet production targets.
  5. Chart SPC data according to process sheet specifications.
  6. Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently pursuing a Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of machining principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls and programming techniques.
  • Manufacturing experience, especially in the automotive industry, is an asset.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
Language Skills:
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • Indoor environment that may be noisy and involve temperature extremes.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights, or continental shifts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
