Purpose & Scope:
The CNC Setter Operator Co-op is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce customer products. The role requires working safely and efficiently, adhering to Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety policies, procedures, and quality systems. Knowledge of SPS, 5S, and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure machines are properly set up to produce required parts.
- Install and remove spindle chucks, collets, drawbars, spindle adaptors, and cutting tools as needed.
- Index cutting inserts and adjust machine sizes as required.
- Load and unload parts to maintain production levels.
- Chart SPC data according to process sheet specifications.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Currently pursuing a Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of machining principles and practices.
- Familiarity with CNC controls and programming techniques.
- Manufacturing experience, especially in the automotive industry, is an asset.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset.
- Good interpersonal, communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and quality.
Language Skills:
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Indoor work environment, potentially noisy and with temperature variations.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights, or continental.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
