Job summary

Precision Mounting Technologies Ltd. in Calgary, AB, is seeking a set-up/production Machinist to join our team and support day-to-day manufacturing operations.

The role collaborates closely with manufacturing, assembly and engineering, ensuring first-off parts meet tight tolerances and production schedules. Responsibilities include setting up CNCs for production runs, maintaining logs, and optimizing programs for speed and quality.

Qualifications

  • GibbsCam milling programming is a REQUIREMENT.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in a metal fabrication shop
  • Experience preferred but not required with Matsuura horizontal machining centers.
  • A strong knowledge of G-Code, machine set-up, machine operation, troubleshooting and maintenance experience is also required.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret engineered drawings, BOM’s and routers.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Machine setups for prototype parts and ensuring the first off provided to the engineering department is of the highest quality while maintaining strict adherence to dimensional tolerances.
  • Setting up CNC’s for production runs to maintain schedules to ship sales orders on time or earlier.
  • Operating band saws to prepare raw materials- when needed
  • Optimizing existing programs to ensure lowest cycle time possible while maintaining high quality and lowering tool breakage
  • Inspect parts for defects or irregularities during manufacturing, ensuring all output meets internal engineering tolerances and aesthetic standards.
  • Maintain accurate production logs and count totals to ensure inventory accuracy within the supply chain.
  • Completion of projects/work within tight manufacturing timelines, while maintaining stringent quality standards
  • Task completion at a constant/high level of effort and professionalism
  • Creating new fixtures to maximize efficiency
  • Preforming preventative maintenance and trouble shooting
  • Operating machines and loading parts
  • Assisting in training staff
  • Review material requirements and inventory levels daily, request work orders when needed for manufactured components to maintain stocking levels
  • Assist with Investigating the root cause/corrective action of inventory discrepancies
  • Inspect incoming parts from vendors
  • Provide updates to department heads on order status and schedule variances

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, PMT is seeking a set-up/production Machinist to join our team, to work closely with our assembly, production, and engineering departments and provide support to our day-to-day manufacturing operations.

RESPONIBILITIES:

We operate in a fast-paced customer-oriented environment and require flexible team-oriented individuals. Duties and responsibilities will vary with customer requirements but generally include:

  • Machine setups for prototype parts and ensuring the first off provided to the engineering department is of the highest quality while maintaining strict adherence to dimensional tolerances.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and effectively prioritize and perform tasks efficiently, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
