Job summary

GrizzlyTrek Group is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator to join our Edmonton client’s team. You will cut API and premium oilfield tubular connections on a modern CNC lathe, day shift, with overtime opportunities. Reporting to the Machining Supervisor, you will set tooling, inspect parts, read blueprints, and maintain safety and quality on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years running CNC equipment in an oilfield, industrial, or construction shop.
• Ability to read blueprints and machining drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and precision measuring skills.
• Commitment to safety procedures and quality standards.
• Initiative to work independently and meet production targets.

Responsibilities

• Run CNC lathe to cut API and premium oilfield tubular connections.
• Set up and change cutting tools, inserts, and tooling.
• Operate tubular loading system and monitor tooling wear.
• Read part drawings and plan machining sequence.
• Gauge threads and inspect finished parts with precision instruments.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep equipment clean.
• Mentor junior operators and support shop safety program.

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Compensation: $28.00 to $34.00 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday

Overtime: Available based on shop demand

Start Date: Immediate

Reports To: Machining Supervisor

Experience: 1 to 3 years in a similar oilfield, industrial, commercial, or construction setting

Certifications: Red Seal Journeyman ticket, WHMIS, and First Aid considered an asset

The Role

Looking for steady, year round machining work close to home? GrizzlyTrek is seeking one CNC Lathe Operator to join our valued client’s team in Edmonton. You will cut API and premium oilfield tubular connections in a modern machine shop, on a full-time permanent day shift with overtime available.

Reporting to the Machining Supervisor, you will run the equipment, set your own tooling, gauge your own work, and help keep quality and safety standards high on the shop floor.

The Shop

You will work indoors in a modern threading shop running CNC lathes on precision oilfield tubulars. Safety, quality, and teamwork run the floor. Expect noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, and steady handling of tools and tubulars through the shift. Full PPE is required at all times: safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility clothing, and CSA approved boots.

What You’ll Do

• Run a CNC lathe to cut API and premium tubular connections


• Set up and change cutting tools, inserts, and specialized tooling


• Operate the tubular loading system


• Read part drawings and blueprints, then plan the best machining sequence


• Gauge threads and inspect finished parts with handheld precision instruments


• Perform routine preventative maintenance and keep your equipment clean


• Mentor junior operators and support the shop safety program
