Job summary

Apera AI Inc. in Vancouver, BC is hiring a Software Development Engineer, Cloud Platform to build a secure infrastructure that ships our 4D Vision software to customer devices.

You will replace fragile IT workarounds with a scalable platform that connects devices, ensures security, and enables rapid updates. You will own connectivity, RBAC, cloud migration, data routing for lab feedback, cost governance, and tooling as a product.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend or platform infrastructure in production.
• Strong AWS cloud experience and fluency with infrastructure-as-code.
• Practical networking and secure connectivity depth (VPN and tunnelling, NAT traversal, certificate and identity management).
• Real experience with authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant account models.
• Comfort operating under a compliance framework such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or TISAX.
• Python fluency and experience with job orchestration or data pipelines, plus observability and cost.
• Bonus: managing fleets of edge or embedded devices, air-gapped or disconnected deployments, containerized delivery to customer hardware, or prior work in robotics or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Build the connectivity layer to devices with a secure, trusted channel for deployment, telemetry, and support.
• Design enterprise-scale account and permissions structures for IT management and shared resources.
• Migrate deployment systems to the cloud, manage updates, and implement RBAC for production.
• Close the loop by routing device data to labs for triage, labeling, and model training.
• Run infrastructure with cost attribution, data lifecycle policies, and separation of dev/prod environments.
• Turn internal tooling into producible products with good documentation, authentication, and status tracking.
• Collaborate with security, networking, and platform teams to deliver scalable, auditable solutions.
