Job summary

CIBC in Toronto is seeking a Cloud Engineering Co-op to gain hands-on cloud engineering experience and contribute to real projects. You’ll help deploy cloud resources, support environments, and collaborate with DevOps teams to improve automation and reliability.

This eight-month opportunity offers training, mentorship, and exposure to Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform, with a focus on Azure. You’ll learn by doing across production and non-production environments.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree/diploma in CS, software engineering, or related tech.
• Strong interest in cloud technologies and learning.
• Experience with Azure, Python, and basic cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist in deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources with a focus on Azure.
• Support environments to help application teams migrate, test, and operate solutions.
• Participate in automation, scripting, and DevOps activities to improve cloud operations.
• Contribute to production and non-production work with guidance and oversight.
• Learn cloud engineering through training and collaboration with Technology Operations.

What you’ll be doing

Join CIBC’s Technology Operations team as a Cloud EngineeringCo-op and have a real impact in making our clients’ ambitions a reality! As a Cloud Engineering Co-op, you’ll contribute to meaningful work that gives you hands-on exposure to cloud engineering while learning from experienced team members. You’ll support the deployment of cloud resources, help build and maintain environments that enable application teams to migrate to the cloud, and work with DevOps tools and automation practices. You’ll also participate in Azure-focused work while gaining exposure to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you’ll have opportunities to build, test, and support solutions in production and non-production environments, with training and guidance provided along the way.

How you’ll succeed

• Cloud Engineering Support - Contribute to the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and exposure to AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Environment Enablement - Assist in building and supporting cloud environments that help application teams migrate, test, and operate their solutions effectively.
• DevOps Practices - Participate in automation, scripting, and DevOps activities that improve the efficiency, consistency, and reliability of cloud operations.
• Production Contributions - Support the team in delivering work across production and non-production environments, with appropriate guidance, controls, and oversight.
• Continuous Learning - Build your cloud engineering knowledge through hands-on experience, training, and collaboration with teammates across Technology Operations.

• You are pursuing a degree /diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technology discipline.
• You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.
• You love to learn. You’re passionate about growing your knowledge. You have a strong sense of curiosity.
• You can demonstrate experience in Microsoft Azure, Python, scripting, Microsoft Office, and a foundational understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It’s an asset if you have experience with DevOps tools and collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence.
