Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Data Engineering, Cloud Migration & Platforms Engineer to design, migrate, and automate data platforms across on-prem and cloud environments. You will contribute to modernizing Oracle workloads and building cloud-native data solutions for governed analytics and AI.

You will work across architecture, development, infrastructure, security, and incident response to deliver scalable data products and services, with a hybrid work arrangement and three times weekly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.
• 3+ years delivering production data solutions in data engineering or cloud platform engineering.
• Hands-on data pipelines design with Oracle or enterprise relational databases.
• Strong Python for automation and PySpark-based processing.
• Experience with SQL, data modeling, and schema design.
• Cloud platform experience (Azure or GCP) and ability to learn the other.
• Infra as code with Terraform and reusable modules.
• Experience with Git and automated CI/CD practices.
• Experience with Databricks/Delta Lake or similar lakehouse tech.
• Understanding of security, IAM, encryption, and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing Oracle-based data architecture and plan migration.
• Design scalable data pipelines for batch and near-real-time processing.
• Develop data migration patterns, schemas, and ETL/ELT workloads.
• Build cloud data-platform capabilities using Azure/GCP services.
• Utilize Databricks Workflows, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake where applicable.
• Create infrastructure as code with Terraform and manage remote state.
• Design CI/CD workflows for data pipelines and platform components.
• Automate deployment and promote environments across dev/test/prod.
• Implement data security, IAM, secrets management, and least-privilege controls.
• Establish data governance, lineage, and access controls.
