Job summary

Mount Royal University is seeking a Data Engineer to design and optimize Microsoft Fabric data lakes and an enterprise data warehouse. You will architect cloud data infrastructure, manage ELT/ETL workflows, and integrate data from the Ellucian Banner ERP system.

The role focuses on performance, data quality, and scalable pipelines. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of data engineering experience, strong SQL, Python, Spark, and a deep familiarity with Fabric and the Azure ecosystem.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in computer science, computer engineering, data engineering, AI, or ML.
5–8 years of experience as a data engineer.
Experience with ERP integrations (Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday).
Experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and cloud lakehouse design.
Strong SQL, Python, and Spark skills; CI/CD and Git knowledge.

Responsibilities

Design and develop Microsoft Fabric data lakes and enterprise data warehouse.
Architect cloud data infrastructure with high availability and security.
Lead ELT/ETL and BI development; build deployment pipelines from dev/UAT to production.
Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and fault-tolerant pipelines.
Collaborate with OIRP, ITS, and other departments to ensure integrated data solutions.
