Job summary

Vancity, headquartered in Vancouver, seeks a Data Architect to lead the cloud-native data ecosystem transition to Azure. You will define secure, scalable data architectures with Databricks, Spark, Unity Catalog, and Purview, focusing on governance, lineage, and metadata while coordinating across engineering and business teams.

You will drive data pipelines, CI/CD integration, and migration of legacy platforms to cloud, reporting to the Director, Data Platform.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of cloud-native data architecture and ability to design secure, scalable enterprise data solutions.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Spark, Unity Catalog, and Purview.
• Experience with enterprise data governance, including classification, lineage, metadata, access controls, and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and optimization of secure, scalable data architectures on Azure.
• Define cloud-native patterns, standards, and governance for data storage, processing, and access.
• Implement data governance frameworks to meet regulatory requirements (PIPEDA, OSFI, FINTRAC).
• Establish data classification, lineage, and metadata standards using Unity Catalog and Purview.
• Architect automated data pipelines for batch and streaming workloads using Databricks and Spark.
• Integrate CI/CD for version control, testing, deployment, and monitoring of data workflows.
