Qualifications

The Role: Cloud Accounting Specialist

The Cloud Accounting Specialist is crucial in the development and expansion of our Client Accounting Services. We are continuously adopting new accounting technologies, and this position is for an individual who wants to evolve with the firm. The Cloud Accounting Specialist has experience working with cloud-based technology and keeps on top of new tech trends and software in the industry.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Full-cycle bookkeeping in a cloud-based environment from client supplied records.
• Preparing payroll and related filings, reconciliations, HST returns, financial statements and reports.
• Onboarding and training clients on cloud accounting software and applications.
• Providing bookkeeping, accounting and software support services to clients.
• Troubleshooting discrepancies, such as resolving issues when transactions are deleted or incorrectly posted.
• Creating comprehensive documentation of bookkeeping processes.
• Research, design and deliver training of new cloud technologies to create efficiencies in existing practices.
• Proactively follow up with clients and build positive working relationships.
• Effectively respond to requests or queries, and keep the team apprised of any potential issues.
• Participating in practice and professional development initiatives.
• Mentoring, training, and developing junior staff.
• Working closely with partners and other senior staff to identify value-added services by understanding industry trends, key performance drivers, and emerging opportunities.

A successful candidate will have:

Technical Skills:

• Proficient with Office 365 products.
• Excellent working knowledge of cloud accounting software including QBO, Xero and various related apps such as Dext, Plooto, Hubdoc and Wagepoint.
• Experience with CaseWare is an asset.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping principles.
• Experience in training staff and clients.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
• ≥2 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in public practice accounting or in a multi-client environment.
• QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is considered an asset.
• Strong interest in technology and innovation.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Proven ability to prioritize and manage deliverables while adhering to time and budget constraints.
• Demonstrated initiative for personal learning and development.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
