Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is seeking a Cloud Accountant for our client in Guelph, Ontario. This 18-month contract role focuses on full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll for a portfolio of clients, and implementing cloud accounting solutions.

You will work in a hybrid setup, leveraging cloud platforms such as QuickBooks Online and Xero to deliver financial reports, train clients, and optimize processes. 3+ years of experience and CPA progression are preferred, with eligibility to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of bookkeeping or cloud accounting experience.
• Experience in public accounting or outsourced accounting is a plus.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and integrations.

Responsibilities

Our client, a growing professional services organization, is seeking a Cloud Accountant to join their team on a contract basis (18-month contract). This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with clients, leveraging technology to improve processes, and supporting a variety of businesses with their accounting and bookkeeping needs. The successful candidate will have experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and possess a strong understanding of full‑cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, and client service. This individual will play a key role in supporting clients, implementing efficient accounting processes, and helping teams maximize the value of cloud accounting technology. This role offers exposure to a diverse client base, ongoing opportunities to expand technical expertise, and the ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives in a collaborative and supportive environment. Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage full‑cycle bookkeeping and payroll activities for a portfolio of clients.
• Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare financial reports and assist clients with ongoing accounting requirements.
• Lead onboarding and implementation of cloud accounting solutions for new clients.
• Train and support clients on accounting systems, processes, and best practices.
• Build strong client relationships through exceptional service and proactive communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of bookkeeping, cloud accounting, or accounting support experience.
• Experience working in a public accounting, bookkeeping, or outsourced accounting environment is preferred.
• Experience with cloud accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage Intact, or similar solutions.
• Familiarity with accounting technology integrations and digital workflow tools is considered an asset.
• Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong communication and client relationship management abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive and solution‑focused approach.
