BrightenCPA in Vancouver is growing and seeks an experienced Cloud Accounting Manager to join our team. • 5+ years of hands-on full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and monthly close.
• Experience reviewing the work of bookkeepers or accountants.
• Solid payroll accounting knowledge and payroll reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to work independently.

BrightenCPA is a growing, cloud-based CPA firm providing bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting and accounting support to businesses and nonprofit organizations across Canada.

We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Accounting Manager to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys working with clients, reviewing the work of others, and taking ownership of client files from monthly bookkeeping through financial reporting.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping and cloud accounting clients
• Review monthly bookkeeping and ensure client files are accurate and complete
• Review bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules
• Review monthly and quarterly financial statements and investigate unusual balances or transactions
• Prepare and review adjusting journal entries
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Review GST/HST and other indirect tax filings
• Review payroll reports, payroll reconciliations and payroll-related general ledger accounts
• Ensure wages, source deductions, benefits, vacation and employer payroll costs are properly recorded and reconciled
• Work with the payroll team to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Review the work of bookkeepers and provide clear feedback and guidance
• Communicate directly with clients to resolve accounting questions and obtain missing information
• Prepare year-end working papers and support external accountants and auditors
• Manage client deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and on time
• Help strengthen our internal accounting processes, templates and quality-control procedures

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of hands-on full-cycle accounting, bookkeeping or client accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting, month-end close and financial reporting
• Experience reviewing the work of bookkeepers or accountants
• Good understanding of payroll accounting and payroll reconciliations
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable managing multiple client files and deadlines
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication
• Able to work independently and take ownership of issues through completion
• Experience working in a CPA firm or bookkeeping firm is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Dext, Plooto, Payworks or similar cloud accounting and payroll systems is an asset.
• A CPA designation is an asset, but not required. We value strong practical accounting knowledge, sound judgment and ownership.
