Job summary

AMLB is a fast-growing, remote-based financial services firm in Canada seeking a Cloud Accountant. You will manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely insights, and compliant reporting across cloud platforms.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-cycle cloud bookkeeping or accounting for 10+ clients.
  • CPA/CPB preferred and experience with bank reconciliations and tax filings.
  • Strong communication, integrity and client service focus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely, accurate bookkeeping for a portfolio of Canadian clients using cloud software.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly financial analysis and participate in client discussions via Zoom/Teams.
  • Respond to client queries within 1 business day and prepare year-end working papers.
  • Support CFO-related tasks for select clients, including budgets and external audits.
  • Identify risks and improve processes; document steps and train teammates as needed.
  • Collaborate with technology/operations to enhance workflows and QA programs.
  • Assist with timely tax filings and financial reporting as part of a cohesive service.

THE POSITION

The Cloud Accountant is a key contributor to AMLB's delivery of client services, with an opportunity to directly impact the client and team member experience. You will be the key client contact for a portfolio of clients, supported by a Bookkeeping Specialist, Payroll Specialist and Tax Specialist, and will be relied upon to surface issues, risks, and improvement opportunities to shape how AMLB delivers its Cloud Finance Services.

THE PRIORITIES

Client Management: You will manage a portfolio of growth-oriented clients in a wide range of industries across Canada, ensuring that deliverables are timely, accurate, and aligned with client expectations. While you won’t be responsible forinitialonboarding in your first90 days, you will be copied on all client communication and expected tomonitorfor quality and risk, including ad-hoc advisory needs. You will review year-end trial balances, working papers, and financial statements with hand-off to the tax team, and work closely with the Payroll Lead to resolve any payroll-related issues raised by clients.

Process Improvement: You will collaborate closely with AMLB’s Technology & Operations Specialist to enhance internal client service processes. Your mandate includesidentifyingoperational inefficiencies, improving workflow systems, supporting the business QA program (without performing the actual monthly/quarterly bookkeeping reviews), and ensuring your team followsstandardized, high-quality practices. This includes utilizing AI to improve the quality and efficiency of client service delivery and drive sustainable growth without taking on tasks that belong to the bookkeeping or tax teams.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Take ownership of delivering timely and accurate bookkeeping, accounts payable, month-end / quarter-end close, sales tax filing preparation and management reporting responsibilities for a portfolio of Canadian clients utilizing a variety of cloud-based software
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly financial analysis and reporting, including participation in client discussions via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams
  • Respond to all client queries within 1 business day
  • Prepare year-end financial statements and supporting working papers including proposed adjusting entries.
  • For a subset of your clients on the CFO Plan, provide additional support as it relates to developing an annual budget, forecasts, supporting during external audits, debt/equity raises and other ad-hoc financial advisory services to help clients achieve their business priorities.
  • Proactively surface and resolve risks and issues related to timeliness and quality of service to assigned clients
  • Enhance sustainability and effectiveness of key processes by recording training videos and creating step by step procedures
  • Participate in improvement initiatives by identifying process and experience pain points, analyzing root causes and implementing sustainable changes
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 3+ years of full-cycle cloud bookkeeping or accounting using Quickbooks Online or Xero for a portfolio of 10+ clients simultaneously
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) is preferred
  • Experience completing bank reconciliations, clearing accounts, and completing sales tax filings, payables and invoicing
  • Prioritizes honesty, integrity and confidentiality to develop high-trust relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Self-starter who works well autonomously and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and due dates to produce high quality deliverables
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Teams in particular) and a passion for technology.
  • We use cloud-based software including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext Prepare, Karbon, WagePoint and Plooto
  • Demonstrated adaptability to test and quickly learn new concepts and tools
  • Team members are asked to participate in at least one team meeting each week
