About the Role

Wood’s Homes is seeking a skilled, adaptable, and creative Clinician to join our Therapeutic Campus Based Care (TCBC) program. This role supports youth whose needs extend beyond traditional office-based service models and requires a clinician who can respond effectively in dynamic, real-world environments. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinician provides direct therapeutic services while collaborating closely with youth, families, caregivers, frontline staff, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners. This position is ideal for a graduate-level clinical professional who values relationship-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and flexible, evidence-informed intervention. Working alongside four TCBC Clinicians, you will play a central role in promoting safety, stability, engagement, and measurable progress for youth with complex mental health and behavioural needs, while contributing to a supportive, learning-focused clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services to youth through individual, family, group, and community-based intervention and therapy.
• Build meaningful therapeutic relationships with youth who may be resistant to, disengaged from, or unsuccessful in traditional clinical services.
• Complete comprehensive clinical assessments, including functional behaviour assessments, mental health assessments, risk assessments, and treatment planning.
• Develop and support individualized treatment goals, safety plans, behavioural support strategies, and transition recommendations in collaboration with the broader care team.
• Provide flexible, creative, and responsive interventions in real-time settings, including homes, schools, recreational environments, and community locations.
• Adapt evidence-based interventions to meet the developmental, cognitive, communication, behavioural, and cultural needs of each youth.
• Assess and respond effectively to crisis situations while maintaining therapeutic engagement, emotional safety, and professional judgment.
• Provide consultation, coaching, and mentorship to frontline staff to strengthen their understanding of complex youth presentations and intervention strategies.
• Support teams in understanding the interaction between developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, attachment, and behavioural expressions.
• Facilitate case consultations, clinical risk reviews, and collaborative treatment planning processes.
• Maintain timely, high-quality clinical documentation and reports in accordance with professional and organizational requirements.
• Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, community partners, and internal program teams.
• Contribute to staff learning, reflective practice, quality improvement, and specialized projects as assigned.

What You Bring

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, or a related clinical discipline.
• Current registration and good standing with the applicable professional regulatory body.
• Clinical experience supporting youth with dual diagnosis, developmental disabilities, complex mental health presentations, substance use disorders, trauma, attachment disruption, acute behavioural challenges, and concurrent mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
• Experience conducting clinical assessments and developing practical treatment plans and recommendations. Formal psychological assessment experience is considered a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, attachment-focused, harm reduction, culturally responsive, and person-centered approaches.
• Sound clinical judgment and the ability to think critically in dynamic and rapidly changing situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce timely, clear, and high-quality clinical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, families, caregivers, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners

Clinical Practice Expectations

• Ability to assess and respond effectively to crisis situations while maintaining therapeutic engagement and emotional safety.

Consultation & Clinical Leadership

• Provide ongoing consultation, coaching, and mentorship to frontline staff to enhance understanding of complex youth presentations and clinical intervention strategies.
• Support staff in translating clinical theories and evidence-based practices into practical day-to-day interactions and interventions.
• Assist teams in understanding the interplay between developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, attachment, and behavioural presentations.
• Facilitate case consultations, clinical risk reviews, and collaborative treatment planning processes.
• Promote reflective practice and skill development among direct service staff.

Additional Requirements

• Current proof of professional registration may be required.
• A valid Alberta Class 5 or Class 5 GDL driver’s license, automobile insurance with $2 million liability coverage, and a driver’s abstract with no more than six demerits.
• Ability to work in community-based and non-traditional settings, including environments that may involve emotional intensity, conflict, crisis, or rapidly changing circumstances.
• Comfort supporting youth with significant barriers to engagement while maintaining professional boundaries, emotional resilience, and self-awareness.
