Job summary

Lookout Housing and Health Society is seeking a part-time Permanent Clinical Support Worker to assist residents with intake, support services and developing independent living skills. The role reports to Site Manager and aligns with Lookout’s ethics and mission.

The position requires respirator fit testing and compliance with WorkSafeBC. Clean-shaven mandate for respirator seal; COR certified workplace adherence is expected.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate or Grade 12 plus two years of related experience.
• Familiarity with community resources.
• OFA 1 First Aid Certificate.
• Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset.
• Class 4 driver’s license is an asset.
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
• Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload.
• Excellent communication, writing and documentation and organizational skills.
• Understands and maintain clientele/worker boundaries.
• Minimum of two years sobriety required.
• Criminal Record Clearance – vulnerable sector.

Responsibilities

• Participate in resident intake and provide support services and assessment.
• Identify challenges for resident and develop service plans, crisis intervention, administer finances and medication.
• Ensure basic needs are met by working closely with the individual on a long-term, ongoing basis.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain statistical and evaluative data.
• Assist with volunteers and practicum students on site.
• Some external work is likely to occur; use of an automobile may be useful.
• Case planning.
• Employees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours; sleeping during shifts is not permitted.
• Responsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety program.
• Other duties as required.

Friday through Saturday
Shift times will be 0700 – 1500 Hours
Shifts are 7.5 hours in length
Days of rest shall be consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice
Probationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviews

Salary

$33.49 - 35.31 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)

Job Summary

The Clinical Support Worker (CSW) reports to Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. The CSW works with residents to provide assistance, support, education and skill training. Will work with resident to maintain and develop greater independence and stability with the goal of a healthier and more independent living arrangement.

This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.

Qualifications & Competence

• Related Diploma or Certificate or minimum Grade 12 education, plus two (2) year of recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Familiarity with community resources, particularly addiction, mental health and harm reduction.
• Must have current OFA 1 First Aid Certificate
• Crisis Intervention Skills Training an asset
• Class 4 driver’s License an asset
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting
• Strong ability to manage stress and organize workload
• Excellent communication, writing and documentation and organizational skills.
• Understands and maintain clientele/worker boundaries
• Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment
• Quick learner and self-motivated
• Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipment.
