Clinical Support Educator - Air and Ground Ambulance

Do you thrive on creating innovative, high-impact education programs that transform the way teams deliver care? If you're ready to bring your clinical expertise and teaching skills to a role where every day makes a difference, this is your opportunity!

At Advanced Medical Solutions, a Calian Company (AMS), we deliver comprehensive healthcare services across Canada through five dynamic divisions: Ambulance (Air & Ground), Industrial Medical, Community Paramedicine, Training and Clinical Education, and Medical Equipment and Supply.

Our Training and Clinical Education division plays a pivotal role in shaping the knowledge, skills, and confidence of healthcare providers working in Canada's most diverse and remote environments. As our Clinical Support Educator, you'll lead the design, development, and delivery of cutting-edge educational programs that keep our teams at the forefront of clinical excellence.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Support Educator is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of educational programs that enhance clinical proficiency, safety, and patient care standards of Advanced Medical Solutions employees, with a primary focus on the Air Ambulance service. This role ensures that flight personnel meet the highest standards of clinical excellence in alignment with CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) accreditation standards.
The role involves designing and delivering comprehensive training programs, including simulation-based learning, hospital clinical rotations, and innovative educational methodologies.

This position requires close collaboration with the Clinical Support Manager and Clinical Support Team to align educational initiatives with organizational goals, accreditation requirements, and industry best practices. Beyond education, the educator will also assist in operational support, such as addressing staffing shortages or providing clinical expertise on missions requiring additional resources. Additionally, the role contributes to quality assurance (QA) initiatives, curriculum development, and the analysis of training outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role encompasses a broad range of educational and clinical support functions designed to enhance the skills, knowledge, and readiness of medical personnel. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, the Clinical Support Educator ensures that training initiatives remain dynamic, evidence-based, and aligned with operational and accreditation requirements. The following responsibilities outline the key areas of focus for this position:

Educational Program Development & Delivery

  • Design, implement, and evaluate comprehensive training programs for clinical personnel.
  • Develop curriculum and training materials for new hires, recurrent training, and specialized skill development.
  • Deliver education through in-person instruction, simulations, e-learning, and remote presentations.
  • Maintain the learning management system and coordinate hospital clinical rotations.

Quality Assurance & Clinical Support

  • Ensure training content reflects evidence-based practices and aligns with CAMTS accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure compliance with national and regional clinical competencies.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and analyze clinical performance data to drive improvements.
  • Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development for clinical staff.
  • Lead simulation-based training, mock flights, and emergency scenarios to enhance readiness.
  • Offer clinical guidance and mission support when additional expertise is needed.

Operational Support

  • Assist with staffing contingency planning and provide clinical support during operational demand surges.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Clinical Leadership to align education with organizational objectives.

Regulatory Compliance & Curriculum Development

  • Ensure compliance with CAMTS accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and periodically review curriculum and simulation scenarios to align with best practices and evolving protocols.

Continuous Improvement & Professional Development

  • Implement ongoing professional development initiatives, adapting training to new medical technologies and protocols.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement.

Reporting & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Provide ad hoc reports on training outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Work with medical, operational, and administrative leadership to integrate training into strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate attendance at educational events, including M&M rounds and simulation sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse or Advanced/Critical Care Paramedic, in good standing with a Canadian regulatory body.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Critical Care practitioner with at least one of the following:
  • Formal education training (adult learning certificate, degree, or relevant coursework).
  • Instructor status (e.g., NENA, Heart and Stroke, ITLS).
  • Healthcare simulation training, experience, or certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver clinical education programs.
  • Experience in e-learning content development and learning management system administration (preferred).
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and safety protocols related to air ambulance services, particularly CAMTS accreditation requirements.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes, data analysis, and performance improvement methods.
  • Excellent computer skills in Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through preparedness, cleanliness, attire, and communication.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other staff members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, problem-solving skills, composure, and teamwork.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The role requires the regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, medical training apparatus, audio-visual tools, as well as all medical equipment utilized in both air and ground ambulance services.
